August Sander

August Sander was a German photographer born in 1876 and introduced to photography as an assistant photographer in a mining company, which later allowed him to buy his own equipement.
He is most known for his portraits he made during the Nazi regime starting around 1920's.
His series called: People of the 20th century can be seen as a documentary of all types of people during the Weimar Republic in Germany.
The series is divided into seven sections: The Farmer, The Skilled Tradesman, Woman, Classes and Professions, The Artists, The City, and The Last People (homeless persons, veterans, ...). By 1945, Sander's archive included over 40,000 images.
